2026 STAKE VISION
We will walk with Jesus Christ becoming lifelong disciples of Him
Preparing for Stake Conference
We invite you to study the following scripture verses and questions in preparation for the April 25 - 26th stake conference.
ALMA 34:37-38
“And now, my beloved brethren, I desire that ye should remember these things, and that ye should work out your salvation with fear before God, and that ye should no more deny the coming of Christ;
That ye contend no more against the Holy Ghost, but that ye receive it, and take upon you the name of Christ; that ye humble yourselves even to the dust, and worship God, in whatsoever place ye may be in, in spirit and in truth; and that ye live in thanksgiving daily, for the many mercies and blessings which he doth bestow upon you.”
QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER
What best helps you to receive the Holy Ghost and His “guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence”? (See President Dallin H. Oaks, Coming Closer to Jesus Christ, February 2026)
How has taking upon you the name of Christ blessed you to become more humble, more worshipful of God, and more full of thanksgiving? How can you strive to keep this covenant to take upon you His name a bit better?
APRIL MESSAGE
Our stake theme this year is, “We will walk with Jesus Christ, becoming lifelong disciples of Him.”
I am reminded of a group of saints we read about in the Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ, who learned to walk with Jesus Christ. Mormon addresses this group of church members as follows, “Wherefore, I would speak unto you that are of the church, that are the peaceable followers of Christ, and that have obtained a sufficient hope by which ye can enter into the rest of the Lord, from this time henceforth until ye shall rest with him in heaven. And now my brethren, I judge these things of you because of your peaceable walk with the children of men.” (Moroni 7:3-4).
Mormon explains that he was able to judge that they were peaceable followers of Christ and could tell they had sufficient hope because of their "peaceable walk with the children of men.”
If we walk with Jesus Christ as His true followers, then we will walk peaceably with our fellow brothers and sisters here on earth. And this peaceable walk will be a sign of our discipleship.
President Dallin H. Oaks taught the following in the April 2026 General Conference, “Peacemakers! How it would change the world if followers of Christ would forgo harsh and hurtful words in all their communications.
My brothers and sisters, as followers of Christ, let us follow Him by forgoing contention and by using the language and methods of peacemakers. In our families and other personal relationships, let us avoid what is harsh and hateful. Let us seek to be holy, like our Savior, in whose holy name, the name of Jesus Christ, I testify, amen.”
It is my hope that we can each choose the peaceable walk of true disciples of Jesus Christ. He will help strengthen and expand our efforts and abilities.
